It is an excellent destination to explore with your rent a car the nearby lovely traditional villages and wonderfull beaches or visit the nearby town of Ierapetra where you can take the boat to Chrissi island. Vianos, Xeniakos, Katofigi and then uphill to Lasithi Plateau and zeus cave is a must day trip from Myrtos. Tertsa, Arvi and Psari Forada and Keratokampos are not so far. Agia Fotia and Makrys Gialos at the east side are nice destnations. And of course Agios Nikolaos Elounda and Spinslonga island make for another excursion.<\/p>

Now continuing along the beach, you will come across Arvi, a very small coastal village where the famous Arvi bananas are grown, which are small but delicious.
