Gerani is a seaside village which is located 10km away from Rethymnon port, 90km away from Heraklion airport and 60km from Chania airport. It is a wonderfull place for the nature lovers, especially with its beach, the famous Gerani and Petres beaches with its magical crystal clear waters and the soft sand.
A little further away there are restaurants, bars, hotels, studios, renting rooms and apartments. A little outside of the village there is Gerani Cave, which has archeological interest and you can go easily with your rental car.
It was discovered, not too long ago, in 1968 and on the ceiling of the cave, beautiful stalagmites are hanging. The findings are from the Neolithic period and some of them are exhibited in the Archeological Museum of Rethymnon.
Where to drive with your rental car
Rethymnon with the famous old town and port is a famous destination. A little further starts a beach which extends until Geourgioupolis and you can stop wherever you fancy to swim. Episkopi, Argyroupolis and Kournas lake are other must visit destinations, closeby. You will not get bored as you can also visit Spili and Plakias area easily from Gerani.
